What is the benefit of optical automation versus traditional auto-stop?
Traditional automatic turntables use internal gears to lift the tonearm at the end of a record, which creates mechanical drag and friction during playback. Our optical automation uses light sensors to detect when the record is finished, lifting the arm without ever physically touching the internal mechanisms. This gives you the convenience of auto-stop while keeping the playback path 100% pure.

Why choose a direct-drive motor over a belt-drive?
Belt-driven turntables can suffer from belt stretching, slipping, and slight pitch variations over time. Our precision direct-drive motor operates exactly at the platter's low rotational speed (33 ⅓ or 45 RPM). This eliminates the high-frequency vibrations and rumble associated with high-speed motors, locking in perfectly accurate pitch and a dead-quiet background.

Can I upgrade or change the cartridge later?
Yes. While the turntable arrives factory-fitted with a premium four-coil Audio-Technica moving-magnet cartridge, it is designed for long-term ownership. The industry-standard twist-lock headshell lets you swap entirely different cartridges in seconds (like a dedicated 78 RPM needle), and the Audio-Technica VMx family allows for simple stylus step-ups down the road.

Do I need a separate amplifier or phono preamp?
The Andover-One DD is engineered as a true high-end component source. It is designed to pair seamlessly with the Andover-One SB, or it can be connected directly to the phono input of any traditional receiver or external phono preamplifier in a conventional hi-fi setup.

Is the tonearm fully adjustable for different tracking weights?
Absolutely. Unlike entry-level automatic tables, the 8.8-inch carbon-fiber tonearm provides the exact fine-tuning that audiophiles demand. You have total control over tracking force, anti-skating, and Vertical Tracking Angle (VTA), ensuring you can precisely calibrate the arm for any cartridge you choose to install.
