Spin Notes #5 - Phillip-Michael Scales - "Sinner-Songwriter"

Phillip-Michael Scales

For Spin Notes #5 we would like to introduce you to a friend of the Andover family. We love his new album "Sinner-Songwriter". Philip-Michael is a fantastic singer-songwriter. His guitar playing perfectly matches his bluesy rock style you can find stamped on this record. All of his songs are well crafted for the pop format with catchy hooks and dynamic songs. You can easily imagine this performance in a smokey bar with a cold drink or in the calm setting of your living room.

Born in Metro Detroit, Forged in Chicago, and living in Nashville, Phillip-Michael Scales has called a lot of places "Home." His forthcoming "Sinner Songwriter LP" will be released on Blues LabelDixiefrog Records (Paris, France).

Phillip-Michael Scales is a gifted songwriter who just happens to be the nephew of BB King. After graduating from Berklee College of Music, Scales moved to Chicago and his original music has not only taken him all over North America, but as far as the Middle East.

When it comes to playing covers, Scales’ soulful take can make an old song you love feel brand new. His sound fits snuggly between folk, pop and soul; demonstrating his knack for thoughtful, catchy melodies. It’s no surprise that he won an international songwriting award in 2013.

He has opened for Kate Voegele, Jon McLaughlin, Tyler Hilton, Crystal Bowersox, and Cory Brannan. He’s also played Musik Fest, NXNE, Taste of Chicago, and Taste of Ann Arbor.
